Map movements before drilling
Place frequently used bottles, towels and tools where they can be reached without unloading the van. Separate wet recovery, clean textiles, chemicals and electrical equipment.
- Mock the layout with boxes first
- Keep emergency shut-offs visible
- Allow room to remove and service machines
Count the fit-out weight
Plywood, drawers, reels, frames and fasteners can consume meaningful payload before water is added. Record each installed mass in the payload model.
- Use manufacturer weights where available
- Weigh custom assemblies before installation
- Recalculate whenever a tank or power system changes
Restraint is not ordinary storage
A tidy shelf is not necessarily crash-safe. Use rated attachment points and competent installation, especially for water tanks and heavy machines.
- Secure items in every travel direction
- Contain liquid leaks and chemical spills
- Inspect mounts and straps on a schedule
Compare the workable approaches
| Approach | Best for | Check before buying | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Removable crates and straps | Validation and shared vehicles | Rated anchor points and spill trays | Slower daily setup |
| Modular racking | Growing small-van operations | System weight and secure mounting | Costs more than loose storage |
| Permanent custom fit-out | Established repeatable operations | Engineering, access and resale impact | Harder to change as services evolve |
