Build a car-polishing pad and liquid starting system from the machine movement, service goal, paint evidence, test spot and backing plate.
One documented system
The pad is not an isolated purchase.
Movement, backing plate, attachment, pad material, grade, liquid, speed and inspection method have to work together. Official systems pair tools, pads and liquids rather than treating every same-colour pad as interchangeable.
01Verify the machine
Movement, plate and approved pad family.
02Choose a starting grade
Use the least aggressive workable documented combination.
03Run one test spot
Inspect the result before extending the process.
04Escalate or refine
Change one controlled variable and document it.
Consumables are job costs
Price a clean working pool—not one sample pad.
The calculator turns your own clean-pad count and laundry interval into a starting stock figure. Add liquids, cleaning time, inspection, pad retirement and rework to the service economics before setting a price.
The linked manufacturers illustrate different matched pad, liquid and movement families. They are examples, not paid rankings or a claim that one brand suits every vehicle.

Questions before checkout
Polishing-pad buying questions
Are polishing-pad colours universal?
No colour should be treated as the specification on its own. Manufacturers publish their own named grades, part numbers, machine movements and matched liquids. Check the current system documents for the exact product family.
What size pad fits a 125mm backing plate?
Do not infer compatibility from a nominal label alone. Confirm the exact backing-plate part number, approved pad family, attachment, stated pad dimensions and machine instructions before ordering.
Should a beginner use a microfiber or wool cutting pad?
This selector does not route a new operator straight to an aggressive cutting system. Start with suitable training, test material, paint inspection and a controlled test spot rather than learning an aggressive process on a customer vehicle.
How many polishing pads do I need per car?
There is no universal number in this tool. Enter the clean pads required by your own validated process and the number of vehicles the stock must cover before laundry; the calculator only multiplies those entries.
Can a more aggressive pad remove every scratch?
No. A visible defect does not establish its depth, the remaining paint or whether further removal is appropriate. Inspect and measure where possible, agree a realistic target and stop when the evidence does not support escalation.
