Ceramic coating vs wax vs sealant selector

Choose a car paint-protection category from the paid service, preparation, workspace, cure access, product evidence and working-stock plan.

Choose the service and the conditions you can genuinely control. A product name does not prove surface compatibility, application conditions, cure time or durability.

Service and working conditions

Select the written customer outcome—not the most expensive chemistry.
Describe where the application and inspection actually happen.
The exact product instructions—not this tool—define the required window.
Product-ready means the complete chosen prep and inspection process is documented—not that every car must be polished.
Do not validate a coating process for the first time on a paying customer’s vehicle.

Product evidence and working stock

Use the current document for the exact regional product, not a marketplace summary.
Confirm paint, trim, glass and existing-coating suitability separately where relevant.
ml
Enter a figure from the chosen instructions and your logged process; zero keeps stock estimates off.
ml
Use the labelled net volume for the exact candidate.

Still needed: current product instructions and safety data and surface compatibility check

The goal is more involved than a maintenance top-up, but the complete coating process is not yet evidenced.

  1. 01

Read the current regional instructions and safety data for the exact product before purchase or use; names such as ceramic, hybrid and sealant are not a shared specification.

  2. 02

Confirm every intended surface in the current instructions; do not infer paint, trim or glass compatibility from the product name.

  3. 03

Outdoor or open-sided work is exposed to weather, dust and changing temperature; do not sell a coating process that requires conditions you cannot hold.

  4. 04

The entered handover plan does not evidence the full cure window; choose a process whose written instructions actually fit the available shelter and time.

  5. 05

Do not promise that protection will hide defects or substitute for the preparation required by the chosen product.

  6. 06

Price applicators, inspection towels, discarded high-spot towels, maintenance guidance and possible rework into the service—not only the bottle.

Sell the process you can control

Protection categories carry different dependencies.

A maintenance spray, liquid wax, synthetic sealant and coating should not be sold as four prices for the same process. The workspace, preparation, application, inspection, cure and handover obligations change with the exact product.

01Maintenance spray

Fast top-up with current surface and application checks.

02Liquid wax

Entry protection without inventing coating durability.

03Synthetic sealant

More preparation and weather control before a seasonal claim.

04Coating system

Documented prep, controlled application, inspection and cure.

Recurring consumables

Model the bottle, applicators and aftercare together.

Use the exact labelled volume and your own verified millilitres per vehicle to expose weekly consumption and a four-week stock quantity. Then include applicators, inspection towels, discarded towels, maintenance guidance and rework risk in the job price.

Exact instructions control the route.

These official examples show why application environment, wipe-off, cure, surface preparation and worker controls must be checked at product level. They are not paid rankings.

Questions before checkout

Paint-protection buying questions

Is a ceramic spray the same as a ceramic coating?

No shared naming rule makes those categories interchangeable. Read the exact product description, instructions and safety data. This selector treats maintenance sprays separately from a coating process that needs documented preparation, application, inspection and cure control.

Can a mobile detailer apply a ceramic coating outdoors?

Only the exact manufacturer instructions can define acceptable conditions. If you cannot hold the stated temperature, weather, contamination and cure requirements, this tool will not route the paid service to a true coating category.

Does paint always need machine polishing before protection?

Not automatically. Inspect the vehicle and follow the exact preparation instructions. Correction should have an agreed purpose and evidence; it should not be added merely to make a protection package sound more complete.

How long will wax, sealant or ceramic coating last?

There is no universal duration this page can promise. Product, preparation, application, exposure, washing and maintenance all matter. Quote the current manufacturer claim accurately and make the customer handover conditions clear.

How much coating or sealant is needed per car?

Use the exact product instructions and your validated job records. The stock model multiplies only the millilitres, bottle size, jobs and reserve you enter; its defaults deliberately do not invent a universal usage amount.

Can one protection product be used on paint, trim and glass?

Do not assume so. Confirm every intended surface in the current instructions and keep separate application tools where the system requires them.
